Langkawi Mangrove Kayaking combi Boat Review by Mary Ann Grant and Philip Dodd from Sydney, Australia:

We spent four hours doing a kayak tour with Wendy through the mangroves in Langkawi. What a brilliant day! Wendy is an amazing source of knowledge on plants, birds, animals and geology of the region. We saw kingfishers, eagles, crabs, monkeys, snails and learnt about the life cycle of the mangrove habitat. All of this combined with a beautiful paddle through narrow tributaries away from the tour boats.Wendy tailored the day perfectly to our capabilities and interests and we always felt that we were in safe hands. Jamie, the boat driver was there as support when needed. We even got to swim through the limestone cave complete with bats on the ceiling. We highly recommend this tour.

Mangrove Kayaking Tour Review by Vivian Kuit from Sarawak:
The mangrove kayaking trip with Wendy has been the highlight of our recent Langkawi tour, and I am really glad that we have included this least touristy thing to do in our itinerary. Being on outboard boat frequently due to nature of work, the opportunity to traverse through mangroves slowly, quietly and with our bare hands (and paddles) gave us a great opportunity to admire the mangroves and its wildlife in a relaxing way. Wendy is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, and I have great pleasure learning more about mangrove trees and bird identification from her. Three hours of kayaking with Wendy was a slight physical challenge which I enjoyed very much, and having a partner to kayak together is a great chance to spend some quality time together. All the fun time we had was made possible with a great nature guide like Wendy! Thank you so much Wendy and we hope to join you again some day!
Vivian Kuit and partner woke up very early for this...Well done and thank you!

Langkawi Bird Watching Tour Review by Mrs Pirjo Laakso from Norway:

I had a wonderful morning birding Langkawi with Wendy. She knew where to find the birds I wanted to see and then some more. We got great looks of Brown-winged Kingfisher and Mangrove Pitta, which was calling from a very high perch. We didn't even notice the mosquitos and the thunderstorm...

Thank you so much, Wendy

Langkawi Bird Watching Tour Review by Gerard Hughes from Australia:
Wendy, thanks for a great birding trip in Langkawi! We managed to see 34 species and that included my target birds which were the Brown-winged Kingfisher and the 3 varieties of Hornbills on the island.
You were very professional and your knowledge is outstanding, but above all what I appreciated is your down to earth nature and genuine passion for birding!
I look forward to my next visit to Langkawi and maybe we can go after the Mangrove Pitta !!

  1. Wendy, thank you for a most educational tour of the mangroves and the bat cave. We came away with much more awareness of the importance of the mangroves and the kids especially benefitted from it ...now they know the difference between a fruit and insect bat, how the mangrove trees filters out the salt, the different types of roots which serves a purpose.......this was my 2nd trip with you and i could never tire of hearing it again and again. Looking forward to seeing you again in langkawi....island hopping next round!

    1. Dear Vivian,
Thank you so much to you too for fitting in the time to do the kayaking despite your busy holiday schedule. It is also a pleasure for me to take a marine mammal researcher out on the waters.
We were very close to seeing an otter... but you have seen a lot of them in Matang :)
